circa 1865, with octagonal 6in. barrel hinging upwards at rear, raised sighting rib with applied nickel crescent fore-sight and signed 'SMITH & WESSON, SPRINGFIELD MASS.', plain six-shot cylinder roll engraved with the Rollin White patent details, period London proofs, plain iron frame, three pin cylinder stop, central hammer, spur trigger and smooth walnut grips (one cracked and repaired), the back-strap engraved 'I.H. CRANE, SOLE AGENT, 3 ROYAL EXCHANGE E.C.', refinished in antiquity
